Guest help

You received a link to join a show from your browser. Most problems below take a minute to fix. If not, use the I need help button on your page: the producer sees it right away.

Before you start

  • Earphones or headphones. Without them the studio hears itself back through your microphone.
  • Chrome, Edge or Safari, up to date. On an iPhone or iPad: Safari.
  • Close other apps that use your camera: Teams, Zoom, FaceTime, Skype.
  • A quiet room, light on your face rather than a window behind you. Camera at eye level.
  • On a phone: Do Not Disturb on, keep the page open. An incoming call interrupts the connection.
  • Internet: close to the wifi router, or a cable. A phone on 4G or 5G works too.

Camera or microphone blocked

Your browser asked to use the camera and microphone and the answer was No, or your computer blocks the browser. Allow it once, then tap Try again on your page.

iPhone or iPad (Safari)
Tap the AA (or the lock) at the left of the address bar, choose Website Settings, set Camera and Microphone to Allow. If they are not listed: open the Settings app, then Safari, then Camera and Microphone.
Android (Chrome)
Tap the lock at the left of the address bar, open Permissions, allow Camera and Microphone. If that does not help: Settings, Apps, Chrome, Permissions.
Mac
In Chrome or Edge: click the camera icon or the lock at the left of the address bar and allow both. In Safari: menu Safari, Settings for This Website. Also open System Settings, Privacy & Security, Camera and Microphone: your browser must be switched on there.
Windows
Click the camera icon or the lock at the left of the address bar and allow both. If they stay blocked: Windows Settings, Privacy & security, Camera and Microphone, and allow desktop apps.

Opened from Instagram, Facebook or another app

Apps like Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X and Snapchat open links inside their own small browser. There the camera and microphone often do not work, and the call drops when you switch apps. Open the link in your real browser:

  • iPhone: tap the share or "…" button and choose Open in Safari (or Open in browser).
  • Android: tap the "⋮" menu and choose Open in Chrome (or Open in browser).
  • Or copy the link and paste it into Safari or Chrome yourself. WhatsApp, Signal and email open links in your browser by themselves.

No picture of yourself

  • Another app or browser tab is using the camera. Close it and tap Try again.
  • Is there a cover or slider over the camera lens? Laptops and webcams often have one.
  • More than one camera? Pick another one in the Camera list on your page.
  • No camera at all? You can still join with sound only; the page says so.

The producer cannot hear you

  • On your page, say something: the green bar should move. If not, pick another entry in the Microphone list.
  • Using AirPods or another Bluetooth headset? Connect it before you open the link, then pick it in the Microphone list. If it is missing, reload the page.
  • Is the microphone button on your screen crossed out? Tap it once to unmute.
  • Is a physical mute switch on your headset or laptop on?
  • Everything looks fine on your side? Use I need help and choose the reason: the producer checks their end.

You cannot hear the studio

  • Turn up the volume and check your earphones are connected. On a phone, use the volume buttons while the page is open.
  • The producer may not have sent you sound yet. The page says Please hold on while you wait; that is normal before the show.
  • Tap the screen once. Browsers sometimes wait for a tap before they play sound.
  • Still nothing? Tap I need help and choose "I can't hear the studio".

Echo

An echo means a microphone picks up a speaker. Earphones or headphones solve it. If you have none, keep the volume low and sit close to your microphone; the studio can mute you when you are not speaking.

Choppy picture or sound

  • Move closer to the wifi router, or use a network cable.
  • Pause downloads, video calls and streaming on other devices in the house.
  • On a phone: try switching between wifi and 4G/5G. Keep the page open and the screen on.
  • The bars next to your name show your connection. If they stay red, tell the producer with I need help: they can lower your quality, which makes the picture steadier.

During the call

  • Messages from the producer appear at the top of your screen and disappear by themselves.
  • A red edge around the screen means you are on air.
  • Keep the page open. If it closes or you refresh, open the link again: you come straight back in.
  • Leaving: use the Leave button. You can rejoin any time with the same link.
